Heal Yourself With No Scars

Now, Get Rid of Thyroid Nodules With No Surgery

Thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped organ located on the front side of neck surrounding the breathing pipe (trachea).  It is a part of the endocrine system, where it secretes hormones namely thyroxine (T4) and tri-iodothyronine (T3). Our brain, heart, digestive and metabolic systems function normally with the help of the thyroid gland. The thyroid nodule is one of the common health problems found in the population around the world. Most of thyroid nodules are benign in nature with only small number being cancerous.

Symptoms Of Thyroid Nodule

Symptoms of Thyroid Nodule

Most thyroid nodules don’t cause signs or symptoms. But occasionally some nodules become so large that they can:

  • Be felt.
  • Cause swelling at the base of your neck (goiter)
  • Press on windpipe causing shortness of breath
  • Press on food pipe causing difficulty swallowing.
  • Press on nerve causing hoarseness of voice.

In some cases, thyroid nodules produce additional hormone production causing symptoms of hyperthyroidism.

  • Loss of weight despite normal or increased dietary intake.
  • Irregularity in heartbeats leads to conditions like tachycardia, and arrhythmia.
  • Lack of sleep
  • Increased sweating and increased sensitivity to heat.
  • Irregularity in the Menstrual Cycle.

Pioneering The Advanced Non-Surgical Treatment Techniques For Treating Thyroid Nodules

With about 50% of the population developing thyroid problem at least once in lifetime, we need advanced minimally invasive treatment options for its treatment.

Thyroid Nodule Ablation

The conventional treatments for thyroid nodules are thyroid tablets and surgery. Although surgery is good option, it has drawbacks such as obstruction of the windpipe, scars on neck, injuries to the laryngeal nerves, hypothyroidism and so on. Moreover, the efficacy of thyroid hormone therapy is still controversial. Interventional radiology brings most advanced thyroid nodule ablation procedure which is non-surgical and non-invasive. This procedure shrinks the nodule significantly and simultaneously preserves the normal tissues too. It gives relief from clinical symptoms while maintaining the function of the normal gland. Side effects and failures are minimal. It is an absolute indication for the patients who are cosmetically well conscious about the post-surgery scars and who want to resume daily life activities as soon as possible post-treatment.

How Is Thyroid Nodule Ablation Performed?

Before doing the thyroid nodule ablation, a FNAC/ biopsy test is done to rule out cancer. The thyroid ablation can be performed using radiofrequncy or microwave device. During the procedure, small needle electrodes are inserted under ultrasound guidance in the thyroid gland by the interventional radiologist The procedure is done under local anaesthesia. The heat generated by the radiofrequency waves / microwaves emitted by these electrodes help in the reduction of the size of the entire nodule. The procedure time is usually 35-40 minutes.

Thyroid Cancer:

Only a small number of thyroid nodules are cancerous. But determining which nodules are cancerous can’t be done by evaluating your symptoms alone. A FNAC/ biopsy test is performed to detect if any cells of cancer are present in the nodule. Generally larger thyroid cancer nodules require surgical treatments / chemotherapy. However recent research has shown efficacy of ablation therapy in a specific type of thyroid cancer called as papillary cancer. This therapy can be used to treat papillary cancer if there is only one cancer nodule with size less than 10 mm.

Answer: It is more prevalent in females than in males.

Answer: Treatment of thyroid disorder is important as the hormone thyroid gland produces orchestrates the metabolism of the entire body thereby maintaining good health of all the organs and weight management.

Answer:

  • Quit smoking.
  • Ask for a thyroid collar while undergoing any kind of radiation.
  • Using iodized salt
